The last Ladies Prim selection will be shipping next week. Blackbird has done a fabulous job on a special Christmas kit. We will be continuing with the Ladies Prim next year too. Our designers will be Blackbird Designs and Beth Twist, of Heartstrings Samplery. It's going to be incredible - applications are available now!

We also have a new club beginning in February with Little House Needlework...My Humble Abode. This will be 4 times a year......accepting applications by the end of December. This is so exciting......

If you have friended us on Facebook then you know we are doing a weekly giveaway. Its our way of saying thank you for your support. If you haven't friended us yet- get going. We still have two weeks of fun prizes to go....

As most of you know, we are not doing a BIG retreat next year. However- we are having two mini retreats. The first one is April 23-25 with Plum Street Samplers. We are busy working on the details which will follow shortly. If you haven't met Paulette- you MUST. She is so much fun and an incredibly talented stitcher! This will be much more low key- you can stay where you'd like although we will have some suggested hotels. We are hoping to see lots of you there.

We are also teaching on Cape Cod in October. This will be a once in a lifetime opportunity- its at the Chatham Bars Inn. Just Google that! You'll be in love. The details are at the Celebration of Needlworks website.
It's been such a busy summer.....my grandson graduated from high school in May, my oldest daughter got married in July, and we have had so many friends and special visitors at the shop......it's been a whirlwind. I know I haven't blogged much but you can keep current with Dyeing to Stitch on our Facebook page.

Pat and I went to market in St.Charles in mid August. It was a long, long drive....but worth it. We saw all of our friends, laughed, talked late into the night and in general had a great time.I got to spend some quality time with my dear friend Mona, which is a rare treat.....We shopped our heads off and brought back many wonderful stitching treats for everyone. We still have lots to choose from so if you think you missed something give us a call and I will send it out ASAP.....

They say change is good....if that's the case, then we are Fabulous! We have three new finishers for the shop....they each do extraordinary things and bring our projects to life....check out all the pictures on Facebook. We also have a new framer....Patti is trying to retire so, we are thrilled to recommend Sheri at Total Framing in northern Virginia. She's quick, fast and fabulous....who could ask for anything more?

We have closed membership in all of our clubs for this year but will be accepting new members for 2015 in December. Our Colonial Gatherings will continue with Paulette of Plum Street Samplers and Tanya of Scarlet House next year. We have great surprises in store for the Ladies Prim Society....we're changing things up and I think you will be thrilled! We will also be adding a new club next year with one of the industries top designers.....this is so exciting....I will post all the information soon......Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16865265142114931792noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5662171834389884679.post-62903637731024588232014-05-30T11:59:00.004-04:002014-05-30T11:59:19.135-04:00

Can you believe that its almost June?
I am excited to have some personel stitching time. I just finished stitching the next Loose Feathers and a reward of merit for Blackbird and am looking forward to working on something for me. Although- the next Loose Feathers is one of my favorites- ever! I am going to start the Quaker Friends by Threadwork Primitives on 26 count over one. Can't wait!
Gives you a small inkling of how hard it is to pick and choose at market. Everything looks so fabulous.........its a tough job. We had a blast this year. We took our two friends Norma and Sybil to help in the room and we also took Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives. For the first time in twenty years we took people in the car with us and shipped the fabrics ahead. We had such a fun time despite the horrible weather. So many laughs, so much talking, stitching, and shopping. Could anything be better than that?

If you follow us on Facebook under Dyeing to Stitch or R and R then you probably saw how full our car was on the return trip home. It was a challenge packing it all in there but Pat is an amazing packer!

We are still shipping club kits. Don't despair. The supplies for everything should be here this week and we plan on finishing up everyone that is currently enrolled this week. Our big winner for the Prim club drawing was Dianne Clemons. Here is what she won........Congratulations Dianne. We plan on doing some more surprise drawings this year!

Some of my favorite things from market were: the incredible linen sling bags from JBW. I literally swooned when I saw them. I already have planned what to stitch on the pocket. They would be a great gift for a stitching friend too!
I also loved the new book from Needlework Press done all in blues. This is such a great book- Vickie has such a talent with words. Love it. Plum Street had the most incredible room- everything she had was wonderful- had to have them all for myself. Her sampler for Pat was so adorable......we have her model hanging in the shop so don't miss it if you come to visit. The Blackbird kits were amazing. Pat stitched the models so we had seen them but when they are finished up they were truly incredible. Barb and Alma never disappoint- we sure had fun making up the kits with them until midnight one night! Another favorite find was stitchers lotion from Thread Gatherer. We sold out immediately but have more on order. If you haven't tried this- you need to! There were so many wonderful things there, its hard to pick and choose the favorites. Makes you realize what a talented group we work with each and every day. How lucky are we?

The next club that will ship will be the Colonial Gatherings towards the end of March. Tanya has outdone herself with this offering. You will all be thrilled! Then in early April we will start shipping the Prim Club. Blackbird has just sent us a peak and its to die for! Wow- I love these clubs. So much fun and I love the surprise of it all. We are busy cooking up extra surprises for all club members this year!

Pat and I will be away mid March. We are going to do our sampler lecture for Stitches and Things in Michigan. Sure hope the weather improves before then! We haven't done this lecture in a while so it should be fun!

Currently we have scrap bags available again. Each bag contains 10 pieces of linen of various counts and colors. Each piece is usually at least 9 x 9. Bags sell for $ 10.00. Let us know if you want some as they go fast......
We have had two snowfalls in the last two weeks. Last week we received 11 inches which is a ton for this part of the mid Atlantic. The shop has been closed for five days over the last two weeks. If you have been trying to call- no , we did not go on vacation but with icy roads we did not open up.
We are leaving for the Nashville market next week. The weather is always a challenge and it makes the coming and going rather scary. Once we are there with all of our friends- we don't care what the weather is! This promises to be a great market. We have had sneak peeks of many things and we stitched a bunch of stuff for several designers so get ready to be thrilled! We have a new fabric color- Hoffmans special blend done on 32 count for a special show kit from one of your favorite designers!

If you wish for us to bring back special things for you from market you can email us at dyeing2stitch@aol.com or message us through Facebook.
I have been hoping to post for the last two weeks. Where is the time going? Pat and I have both been down with the flu since Thanksgiving but I think we are finally feeling 100%. It's really hard to be sick when there is so much to do.....

First, I wanted to share this darling piece from Plum Street and the fabulous finish. Isn't this just the coolest?

I also wanted you to see Mary's Sampler- also from Plum Street. Pat finished this as soon as it was out and we sent it to the finisher and told her to do something fun. Isn't this so great? If you haven't finished yours yet maybe this will inspire you.

Last night we had our annual Christmas party with our Thursday night group. Lots of yummy food and we had an ornament exchange. It was so much fun. Here is a shot of all the cool ornaments we did. Every year it is more and more fun. It's great to see what ornament everyone chooses to stitch and what fun finish they will do. Great job ladies!
A lot of you have asked if we have rested since the retreat. NO! Lots of work to do plus my friend goes to New York every fall and brings me back apples..... lots of apples. I am still tired! I think everyone had a really good time and we have received so many lovely notes and a few gifts ( teachers pets). Here is a box that the lovely ladies from Cape May made for me- Pat received one also. We were so touched by their kindness- thanks so much Jean, Donna, Sandy and Elena!
People are already asking about the next one- Pat says we aren't doing anymore but we will! I am already looking at a new hotel for 2015 and we have already asked several teachers to come back!

This was the make it and take it project which started the retreat off. A simple little pincushion.
I am going to do an entire blog post with pictures of the Evening with Friends. It was a tiny book in which all the teachers contributed a chart. You can pick and choose the ones you want in your book that are appropriate to your life. Sharon of the Purple Thread put it together. I know there were a lot of finishing directions so she is going to do a video for the blog so you can watch it as often as you need to for finishing purposes.

I have seen a million pictures on other blogs of the banquet. Here are a few pictures that I loved.
WE managed to see a lot despite the shut down and the torrential rain!

We hope to ship the last prim for 2013 around mid November. This one is spectacular so stay tuned! Also- to make things easy for everyone we have decided that for the Ladies Prim in 2014- if you belong in 2013 you don't need to renew. ONLY if you want to stop- then you need to contact us.

We also talked about a new club offering we are going to have in 2014 at the retreat. This is called Colonial Gatherings with Paulette Stewart of Plum Street and Tanya Brockmeyer of Scarlet House. It will be set up like the prim society with a kit offering every 8-10 weeks running from $25 - 40. This will again have a limited number of spaces available. Hope to have the registration form on the website by November 1st. We are very excited about this too!

Lots of wonderful and exciting things coming in 2014........Hope you will stay tuned.
Thursday, October 3rd is a special day for Pat and I. R & R will be 20 years old on that day. We are thrilled about this milestone. We are planning lots of fun giveaways this year so everyone can share in the celebration. Watch this blog for details.......

Please note that our Prim Society is closed for 2013. I know there were a few of you disappointed to have missed out on the terrific projects for this year. We will be posting information for the 2014 club in early November and taking registrations in December 2014, promises to be just as exciting so keep watching for details.

I hope to get lots of pictures at the retreat and will post them next week. We are going on a quick trip to DC with some of the teachers at the close of the retreat but will be back at work by Wednesday........Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16865265142114931792noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5662171834389884679.post-82426276011001070412013-09-20T13:57:00.001-04:002013-09-20T13:57:28.469-04:00Bittersweet Autumn is the latest selection for the Ladies Prim Society. The retreat is almost here. We are frantically trying to finish up all the many projects. I am getting excited to see lots of dear friends and to meet many of you coming for the first time. Final letter is on its way.......can't wait to see all of you and to see what costumes you have cooked up for the banquet!
My favorite time of year- not only for the weather but the decorations, the food, fall clothes.....love it all!
I had the best of intentions on blogging while at market. Once we get there and get caught up in the energy and seeing lots of friends- that flies right out the window. I will offer a few observations even though loads of others have already blogged about the show.

There were many wonderful things at market- one of the best we have attended in years. Here is a peak at some of the linens we took with us..........
We were thrilled to bring models home from Blackbird and Plum street. If you are coming to visit in the next month or will be at the retreat you will have a chance to ohhh and ahh over these as we did! Here is the Blackbird display.....Plum Street is in the window but I will try and photograph those next week.
We have the next selection in Every woman's journey that is in the process of shipping. Sharon is always so inventive! We still have openings in this club if you are interested.
I did make a non stitching purchase while in St. Charles. We managed to get to main street the first afternoon- for lunch! We had some extra time afterwards and decided to check out some of the charming shops. Ok- first shop and I knew I was in trouble! Had a pile on the counter in less than 5 minutes.....never good. They had the most adorable antique baby bed- shoot I thought it was just for display til I poked around and discovered it was for sale. Now- as adorable as it was it wasn't small.....we drove and the car was full of fabrics and trims which I hoped would be gone going home, but I still had to shop the show and bring back lots of treasures for the shop! So I passed......of course I could talk of nothing else all weekend. ( I am sure all of our friends were begging Pat to go with me back to the shop to get the bed just so I would shut up about it) We did go back on Sunday and I decided if it was still there it was coming home with me. Had no idea of how we would fit it in the car, but I really, really wanted that bed. ( I have made crazy purchases before when we have been out of town- huge cement pumpkins, americana flag poles, a huge picket fence! ) We did manage to squeeze the bed in although there was not a breath of room to spare. Now wasn't this worth all the trouble? Isn't it precious? The price was ridiculous too- hard to pass up a bargain!

The next Ladies Prim Society will be shipping in the next two weeks. Blackbird designed this offering for fall- Bittersweet Autumn- really adorable! Well worth the wait...... Let me know if you want anything added to your order. Bags are already piling up!

We are busy as bees getting ready for the retreat. I will be sending out one more letter with final information. Boxes are piling up at the shop and at the house. Hope we have room for all these goodies! This is a lot of work, but also so much fun when it all comes together. So many people are helping- we couldn't do it without the assistance of many friends....... Can't wait to see the costumes everyone is cooking up for the banquet.

WE should have the next Hollyberry farm piece next week. The fabric is ready and waiting here at the shop. so feel free to call with your orders.

I think I mentioned in the last blog post that we will be continuing with the Ladies Prim Society in 2014. We will also be announcing another club at the beginning of October. Very exciting.....stay tuned....

Hope you all are enjoying the cooler weather. It's still baseball season, so we are getting lots of stitching done. Go Red Sox!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16865265142114931792noreply@blogger.com7tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5662171834389884679.post-48182174134902295422013-08-16T13:03:00.000-04:002013-08-16T13:03:41.098-04:00To market, to market...... we are off to the summer needlework market next week in St. Louis. It's been many years since we have gone to the summer market and are we excited! We have loads of linen , trims and charts to take to sell and we are armed with checks, lists and comfortable shoes so we can shop, shop, shop. We have seen many sneak peaks from some of our favorite designers and I know we are in for a treat! If you have requests or wish us to bring something special back for you, email us at dyeingtostitch@aol.com. I can access that from my phone so I will make sure we get everything you want. The shop will be closed August 20-22 so the girls who work with us are not overworked. The shop will reopen regular hours Friday the 23rd.

As many of you know the shop was broken into on August 1st in the early morning hours. This was a very scary thing for us even though we were not there or open. The burglars didn't bother any of our merchandise or models they just overturned most of the office files and trashed them with cleaning fluids. Lots of mess to clean up but we are so thankful that no one was hurt and more damage was not done. Thank you for all the lovely messages you have sent- they meant the world to us.

I decided to change our front display table to bees for the late summer. Threadwork Primitives has three darling bee designs along with several other designers. Check these great patterns out.....
We will be shipping the next Prim Society offering the first week in September. This one is by Blackbird Designs. If you want to add anything to your order please contact me as soon as you can. I do want you to know that I try and mix up who ships first every time I send these kits out. That makes it fair for everyone. It takes me a full week to get these all sent out so please be patient. If you know you need to update your credit card please call me as it slows the entire process down if I have to hunt you down. This kit will be stitched on 32 count so I hope everyone is happy with that. We will be doing the Prim Society next year too and I will be posting further information shortly.

Once again we have the sampler clipboards in stock. Many of you have been patiently waiting and yours are all in the mail. If you wanted one and haven't called- now is the time as they go FAST!
The sampler I have decided to post this time is Elizabeth Pritchard. I love this pictorial scene. The sheep are done in wool and the colors are warm and vibrant.
According to the weather channel last week and this week are the hottest weeks of the year. Yes I can attest to that. We came home Saturday night to no air conditioning. It was 85 in the house. We managed to get someone to come and repair it on Sunday ( don't ask what that cost) and it took almost 24 hours for the house to cool to a normal range because of the heat outside. It was a miserable two days for us and the three dogs even with fans. I admit we are spoiled and frankly I do not want to live without air conditioning ever again.

We have some new models in the shop. I finally finished the Numero Uno from Jeannette Douglas. This is such a cool piece and really fun to stitch. It is done mostly with Gentle Art wool. It is very industrial and yet Pottery Barn looking to me. What do you think?
We also had Jeannette's new Christmas piece stitched for the shop. It comes with two color ways but we chose the light one. Isn't this stunning? Wendy did a fabulous job on this one.
We took out the big cat and added a flock of sheep. This just suited us more. Hope you like it. Pat is over half done with the Summer at Hollyberry farm but she is busy stitching models for the summer show in St. Charles, so it will be a little bit before she can finish.

The winner for the Ladies Prim Society is Linda Crowe. Linda please contact me about what intial you would like stitched for your fob. Thanks to everyone for your lovely comments. It seems to be a very popular club and we are so appreciative of your commitment. Just a note- we give the designers guidelines in pricing and they come up with the kits as far as colors and fabric choices. If the fabric is not your choice you can always change it. We are trying to keep the pricing reasonable thus the choices that have been made.

OK- have you seen the new sampler from Threadwork Primitives? Nan designed this for me and I am so thrilled. I have never been honored like this before. Nan you are the best!

This Saturday- July 27th is our annual summer frame sale. If you have things ready to frame for Christmas or just projects completed that you would like to have framed- come see us. We will be here from 11am to 5 pm.

The sampler I selected to show this week is one of our boys. George Eisenbrey. He is from the Smithsonian. George was a bad boy and was made to go to a girls school and do a sampler. He was actually a pretty good stitcher. We know that George was a bad boy because his sister kindly left a note with the sampler. Wouldn't you love to know what he did to get in such trouble?
Patriotic stitching and decor are some of my favorites. Thought I would share one of my favorite pieces of folk art with you. This angel is so cool. You turn the star and her wings move and she plays God Bless America. Isn't she great?
This sampler is one of ours- Elizabeth Pratt. It's all stitched in cranberry and navy silk on 40 count. Perfect for the Fourth!

I am so excited about the next prim club offering. This is so unique- Nan has out done herself. I thought we would have another contest. If you become a follower of our blog and leave a comment between now and the 4th of July, I will stitch the letter of your choice and make it into a scissor fob to match the pin keep. This is a huge deal for me to offer to stitch anything but I thought it would be FUN! We will start shipping on Tuesday the 18th......watch your mail box!

We have had a great response to the Every Womans Journey. I mentioned that Sharon has a darling patriotic strawberry to go with the club offering. Isn't it adorable? We still have some room in this club if you are interested.
If you will be here over a Thursday night- call for reservations and come stitch with us. We are going to be closed July 3rd and 4th for the holiday. We will be open Tuesday July 2nd and reopen Friday July 5th. Hope to see you soon..............

I was so surprised last week when I received this FABULOUS bag in the mail from Nan Lewis of Threadwork Primitives. Isn't it wonderful? That Nan- always full of surprizes.
I love it!

I was telling a few customers about this sampler. It's from Examplars from the Heart and the title is Forgiveness, but we changed it to Friendship. We also changed the colors, but isn't it stunning?

Wow- lots of fun things in the shop this week. We got the new Halloween string from Lizzie Kate- way too cute, the new Shepherds Bush kits, and the Little House Mystery sampler. We are expecting the new Stacy Nash Hollyberry Farm very soon. We can't wait to see it Stacy!

If you purchased the book- My Name is Lidya from us we should have the replacement books in soon. If you live out of town call me and we will make arrangements for a replacement book to be sent to you. Thanks for understanding.

Summer is here- it's hot and we are having some very scary storms at night. Hope you all stay safe, dry and are stitching like crazy. Til next time............
Hope everyone has something fun planned. I know its the start of the summer but really enough with the rain. We will have flippers soon......However my peonies are truly gorgeous with all of the rain. I have been bringing them into the shop by the armful. I think I have about 40 bushes now with white, pink, red, fuchsia, purple and now yellow. They are so beautiful.

Here is another prim tag winner- Dede. Isn't this a clever finish? Love it!

I wanted you to see the last prim club stitched on 40 count. One of the local stitchers- Donna- finished this. Isn't it sweet? We have plenty of 40 count at the shop if you love the way this looks................

I also wanted to mention that we do have in stock the Celebration fabric called for in the JCS magazine ongoing sampler for this year. Several people have called to ask and yes, we have it in stock along with the special DMC and the paillettes.

Have you seen these sampler stitching boards? They are FABULOUS. You slide them open and you can put your project inside with the threads, scissors etc. We just got a shipment in- have been out since Nashville night. Let me know if you want one.

This is the new box from Liberty Hill- Schoolgirl workbox for the Needle. Isn't it great? Carolyn is so talented. She has been painting things for all needleworkers for years. This set comes with the box, project board with thread ring, heart shaped scissor fob and small stenciled bag. I ordered immediately so let me know if you would like us to reserve this for you! They should arrive late June.

This sampler is Anna Nichols from Ohio. She stitched this and actually sewed two pieces of fabric together with the long zigzags in the middle. Anna was practising her W's in this piece like many young girls do at a tender age dreaming of the special someone they might marry someday! So primitve and so so sweet.......
I should have more to report but we have been working like crazy women trying to push a mountain of fabric out the door. I think about 350 yards have been shipped in the last week. Hope we can have a short rest this weekend.......Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16865265142114931792noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5662171834389884679.post-88960658172561146102013-04-26T12:41:00.000-04:002013-04-26T18:43:17.674-04:00I agree with the President- last week was a very tough week. My heart goes out to all those affected by the Boston bombing. As most of you know, my friend and business partner was born and raised in Boston and has an incredible special feeling for that city. I have visited Boston many times and am a HUGE Red Sox fan so I felt an overwhelming sadness about the whole situation. I was obsessed with the media coverage- couldn't stop watching it. The courage and bravery shown by those men and women in Boston was amazing. My prayers and thoughts are with you Boston. BOSTON STRONG!!!

On a lighter note, the prim has shipped. I think most of you should have received it by now. I hope you were pleased. I thought it was just right for spring. Thanks for your patience in getting them all shipped. It is a much bigger job than you think......
We have been so successful with the prim club we are staring another club with the Purple Thread. Sharon is the featured designer in this months issue of Just Cross Stitch magazine. This club will be called", Every Womans Journey". We hope to ship a kit every 6-8 weeks keeping the cost to $25-35 each. The registration sheet will be on the website. If you are registered for the prim you can just sign the bottom and put in prim club and I can get your info from your other registration. Here is the first kit. We hope it will ship by mid June. We also have a fabulous door prize for one registrant from Sharon.
We expect our books from Stacy Nash next week- my name is Lidyah. We are so touched to be mentioned in the acknowledgements- Stacy you are the best! It looks fabulous and we can't wait for ours to arrive. Give me a call if you want one held for you. We should also have the fabrics and fibers to go with all the projects! WE will also have the 18th Century Rook in stock next week for the new sampler from Shakespeares Peddler- just gorgeous.

The sampler I chose for this weeks blog is Sally Starbuck. She is from Nantucket, Massachusetts. Sally was a Quaker and she and her sister Mary went to the friends school there. The Starbucks were one of the founding families of Nantucket. Quakers were both finacially and politcally influencial in the building and shaping of Nantucket Island. This sampler is a genealogical record of her family.
AT LAST! We had sleet last Sunday and it has been so cold and miserable. I am ready for spring. Hopefully it will be a nice one so we can get prepared for the hot summer ahead.

We have been busy getting things ready for the next prim shipment. We should start shipping by the beginning of next week. I love this piece- Pat stitched it and I was drooling over it the whole time! We even dyed a special color of linen for this one- Prim Yellow. Here is a sneak peak.

If you wish to order extra things to ship with your prim just send me an email or call the shop. I am happy to include whatever you need(want!)

We got some amazing entries for the prim tag contest. Truly, I was blown away by all of the creativity. I am doing one big prize and two smaller ones but you all get a round of applause for your efforts! The big prize winner is Faye Riggsbee. Faye- you never fail to amaze me with your talents. The two others that will receive prizes are Rita Ogden and Dede Caplinger. I will send the prizes in the next prim shipment. Congratulations ladies!

We are getting things started for the retreat in the fall too. We have a few spots left- not many. If you are thinking about it please send in your registration so you aren't disappointed. Don't forget final payments are due May 1st.

Here are some new things we have stitched for the shop. The first is the Valetine set from With thy Needle and Thread- so sweet. The second photo is the new hearts from By the Bay. These are so clever. Love them.
I picked Ann Wood as the sampler this week. She went to the Nine Partners School in New York and you don't see many of these. Ann put the rules to mark napkins on her sampler and also a ligature. See the letter that looks like an f all in a row? That is a ligature. It was a Quaker code that meant Quakers could speak openly in that household. Remember for a long time Quakers were religously pursecuted. I love this piece. She is one of my favorite samplers.

If you have been by the shop in the last two weeks then you have probably met Abigail. Yes- we broke down and got another dog. She is a nine week old Westie puppy. Isn't she adorable? Three pounds of pure attitude. Would we have anything less?
Do you have trouble adjusting to Daylight Savings time? I hate it. It takes me at least two weeks to sleep and wake up correctly. Ugh!

I thought I could blog away while we were at market and of course we got busy and the internet service there was horrible so I gave up!

We made it to market without much ado. We did drive through sleet part of the way and it snowed almost the entire time we were there but it didn't stick to the ground much. It was just COLD. We also drove like crazy trying to make it home after the show before the next big storm. Again- we drove in sleet but nothing like what we have driven through in years past.

Market was great. So much fun and so many great new things. WE found fabulous charts, fibers and gadgets galore. I have several favorites- the sampler clipboards from Needlework Press were incredible. We sold ours out in less than 15 minutes but I have many more ordered! The T-shirts and nightshirts that say, Eat- Stitch- Sleep were so cute. Loved them! We found some gorgeous scissor fobs- we bought mostly the acorn ones and of course those sold quickly too. I will be reordering them ! The charts and kits were extraordinary- no favorites there- too many to choose from. Spring at Hollyberry farm was simply beautiful and we have lots of fabric for that! The Purple Thread had wonderful, creative things. If you aren't familiar with Sharons stuff you need to check it out. She kits everything so you don't even have to look for a button or ribbon. Everything is included. I was trying to describe her style and I would say its Vintage with a modern twist. Jeannette Douglas had so many beautiful things- the Numero Uno was my favorite. Its the first things on my list to stitch. Very vintage and fun! The new kit from Little House Needlework is adorable. Love it. We also have plenty of fabric for that! Shepherds Bush and Blackbird always have fun and creative things and I brought home lots of everything. I don't think I missed much at the show so if you are looking for something just give us a buzz.......

Pat has at least six things from market completed. Here are a few: The stitching bag and snowman fob are from Shepherds Bush, the needles and pins is from Jeannette Douglas and the bunny piece is the exclusive kit from Stacy Nash.

One of the nicest things to happen at market was a visit from an old friend. Leslie- who worked at Shepherds Bush for many years. We met her years ago and even did a trip to Marthas Vineyard together. I haven't seen her in a long time. She is on a mission trip in Nashville with her husband. She managed to come to the show hotel for a brief visit. It was absolutey lovely to see her and her husband, Roger. Leslie not only is one of the nicest people I know but she has the most incredible wardrobe. You are a fashion goddess Leslie!

I do have an announcement about the retreat. Nan Lewis is not going to be able to attend due to health reasons. I know this is a disappointment to many but maybe we will see her in the future...... I am thrilled to announce that Stacy Nash will be taking her place. WE are very excitied about this and hope you will be too! There are still some spots available........

The next sampler I am featuring is Thankful Davis. She was the last of thirteen children and we like to think she was named because her Mother was thankful she was finished having children! This is considered a dye pot sampler .As Thankful stitched down the pice she used a lighter and lighter green. This piece originated from Woods Hole, MA in 1799. What do you think?
I know you are all anxious to see what Blackbird has in store for us. Me too! I will post as soon as we have it and when we will be shipping.... Don't forget to send us a picture of your prim club tag finish. Someone will win a bag full of charts, fiber and fabrics!
This is the 18th year we have done this trade show. The weather is always a challenge but once we get there we forget all about how hard it was to actually get everything done before we arrived. Pat and I are among a small group of designers/wholesalers who also have a retail store. So, we not only go with goods to sell at this show but we must also buy all of those exciting goodies for our shop! It is a challenge to be sure but we have our friends Norma and Sybil with us to help. They help set up, run for food, pick up orders, scout out rooms we might not have time to get to and in general make the show much easier for us. We are blessed!

Some new things have begun arriving in the shop already- we have received the new snowman kits from Shepherds Bush, the new charts from JBW, Prairie Schooler and Plum Street. Wow- if that is an inkling of what is to come I am super excited. Pat already has the new pincushion from Shepherds Bush done and is ready to begin Nantucket Girls from Plum Street.

We know the Blackbird things will be wonderful- as always. The new Spring at Hollyberry Farm from Stacy Nash looks so fabulous. Can't wait to see all of Stacys new things. There will be so many fun and exciting things to pick from. It's like Christmas!

Don't forget our Nashville Night is Wednesday, March 6th from 6-8 p.m. Come get a first look at all the treasures we found for you!

The next Big Project Sunday is March 24. Call the shop if you plan to attend so we can have enough seating set up for everyone. I can't wait to see the progress everyone has made.

Sign ups for the retreat are going great. We are planning a teachers meeting in Nashville. Trying to get all those details ironed out!

I know lots of you are having horrible snowy weather. We have had snow twice here but no significant amounts. The dogs love to play in the snow but they are not crazy about the cold. Here they are begging for someone to let them in! My stitching chair is right by this door and they can see me so they press their noses against the door- Please we need service at the back door!

I hope to take a bunch of pictures at the market. We have to have permission from any vendor but most of our Buddies are near us so maybe they will allow a few snap shots.

Have a fun week- I know we will!!!Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/16865265142114931792noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5662171834389884679.post-57421635886413962752013-02-13T16:58:00.000-05:002013-02-13T20:18:56.950-05:00I can't believe Valentines Day is this week. I love hearts and would love to have those decorations up all the time. I took this picture of a basket of hearts that I have. Some of the hearts are quilted, some are pinkeeps, some are fobs and some are pincushions. I add a little to the collection each year. You can never have too many hearts!

Hopefully everyone has received their prim club- and are busy working on their tags. Pat stitched ours ( sorry- I am just too slow) and we have them finished for you to see. Maybe they will inspire you. I love the way these turned out and am anxious to see what all of you come up with.

The registrations for the retreat are coming in fast and furious. I will be sending out a confirmation letter before the end of the month. We leave for market on the 27th so they must go before that. I will send all the hotel and airport information and give you a few ideas of whats in store for October! It's great to see so many new names on our list. Can't wait to put faces with names!

Here is the next sampler- Mercy Chandler. I know she is not small and certainly not primitive. I am featuring her this time because this is Pats great, great grandmothers sampler and last week was Pats jubilee birthday. I told her she could select the sampler for the blog. This is a fabulous piece with about 20 different stitches including a row of alphabets in queen stitch. This sampler comes from the Boston area .

Market is coming up so fast. We have seen sneak peaks from Threadwork Primitives, Blackbird designs and Cricket. Everything is fabulous and I can't wait to get to Nashville. I know it sounds like just one big party to all of you but it really is hard work. I think the worst part is the preparation and the packing and unpacking of the van. I hate that part. Once we are there- we visit with friends, shop owners and in general have a great time. We need to get some sleep this year- no staying up half the night talking and laughing. Yeah- like that's going to happen. hahahahahahahaha

This is the little bag I mentioned last time. Isn't it dear? It is all hand made with very old beads and a crocheted top. This is from around 1908. It's called a betrothal bag. My grandfather gave my grandmother her engagement ring inside it. We found a very sweet love note from him inside when we were cleaning out the house. The tiny photo is my parents on the day they became engaged.
Just a couple of comments on the retreat. Once we receive your application you will receive a letter with all the hotel information and further information for the retreat. The room costs are $109 double occupancy per night and you must be registered for Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights- no exceptions. The room block is not available yet so please don't call and book your room yet.

The Master Class is a tips and technique class which is open to everyone. Pat Ryan knows more hints and tips than anyone I know. I am sure that is why she is such a fast stitcher but I know you will learn something that will make your stitching easier and more pleasant. We are both professional ironers- so even the tricks to ironing your fabric are fabulous!

If you are thinking of coming alone and would like a roommate, I think we can help you with that and we have a whole team of ambassadors that will take good care of you- and make sure you have a great time. Our girls are the BEST!

Looking forward to a fabulous retreat. WE have so many fun things planned.
